Default I am buying a "complete" B18B motor swap, what should I be looking for to use in my EJ8?

Does the tranny and a/c brackets work or do I need the Si ones?

What should I be looking for?

Block, Head, Distributor, ECU, Linkage, Axles, Starter, Alternator, I/E Manifolds

Thanks

to keep ac, i think you will either need the compressor and bracket, or to use yours you will need a p54 off of the del sol vtec. IF i remember, the si ac compressor still have the same bolt pattern as the ls.

unless you are using an aftermarket mount kit, you may need an si drivers side engine block mount. and the rear bracket off of the 99-00 si. the del sol/teg is too long.

you really dont need the harness, it is good to have for connectors and such. every swap i have done, i have found it easier to use the harness from the car the engine is going into.

for the hell of it, where are you getting this engine from? is it a reputable shop?

What vintage is the motor swap? OBD1 or OBD2? If it's OBD2 you're in better shape but OBD1 isn't much more hassle anyways.

1) Tranny will work fine...yes you need the axles, shift linkage, & intermediate shaft that come with the B-series

2) What you need from the 99-00 B16 Civic are the rear transmission bracket & upper block bracket. The upper half of the driver side bracket & your side trans bracket you can reuse your stock D16 ones. Use the front/lower trans bracket that comes with the swap. The a/c mount you can use the one that comes on the swap but it will require using the Teg compressor. If you want to keep the D-series compressor you need a bracket from a CRV (P7J) or del Sol VTEC (P54).

3) Hopefully you get a distributor with it, if it's OBD2 it will plug right into your stock harness. If it's OBD1 you can modify the internals with your D-series distributor guts and then it will plug in.

4) Definitely look for a complete longblock with head, bottom end, intake & exhaust manifolds (unless you will use an aftermarket header) throttle body, etc.

5) If you get an OBD2 ecu it needs to be of the same vintage as the car, version A or B. If you use an OBD2 engine & ecu you'll need to swap plugs on the crank sensor. If you convert to OBD1 you won't have to hook up the crank sensor or secondary O2 sensor but you'll need a conversion harness to plug in the ecu. You can't use the B18B harness, you have to keep your stock one and just tweak it as needed to fit.

6) I recommend getting the 99-00 B16 Civic radiator, it fits the same as your stock one but has larger inlet/outlet to match the B-series water necks.
