K Sport big brake kit
So I searched and couldn't find anyone that has used the K Sport big brake kits for the 4th gen Prelude. I know most people say you don't really need bigger brakes and just get some good rotors and pads and call it a day, but that's just not me. I want front and rear brake kits with new calipers, and K Sport seems to be the only one to offer a rear kit. So, has anyone used these?

What will your plan be with this brake setup? Do you plan to track the car?
You should look into the avalibility of replacement rotors as well. They might be really expensive, and if you track the car you will go through rotors.
Just something to think about.
Right now I can get brembo blanks for about 25ea and use them for a few events and get new ones. It would take a long time to re-coup that cost with one of those kits, if they would even last longer.

I didn't realize that brake kits could be rebound and compression adjustable.

Ksport SC5 street brake pads (RC1 race pads available for additional cost)</TD></TR></TABLE>
13" rotors will call for a 17" wheel at a minimum, IIRC, so that's another thing to consider. I like using 15s on my track car, so I'm planning to run a Fastbrakes kit. He doesn't offer an OTS rear kit, but he can put one together for you. I was planning to do that, but the kit won't save much weight over the stock setup, so it's just easier to use the stock rear calipers and rotors.
As pointed out above, the major considerations, are availability and cost of replacement rotors and pads. If the pads and rotors are not widely available, this could be an issue. That's another reason why I like the Fastbrakes kit and the Spoon kit. Fastbrakes uses Wilwood calipers and rotors (11.75" OD) which are easy to find (and less expensive than OEM!) and Spoon uses the stock pads and rotors.
I know Chris F uses the Fastbrakes kit on his 4Gen HondaChallenge H1 car with very good results. I'm hoping to have equally good results with the 6 piston kit on my 5Gen. I'm doing the mock up tonight to make sure everything fits right.

The car won't be autocrossed at all. It might see the drag strip once or twice. Other than that, it's just a daily driver/show car. The car already has 17"s, so as long as the backspace is ok then there's no problems there. I don't see the brakes getting abused, so I think the rotors would probably last quite a while, and the pads shouldn't be a huge problem to find when the time comes to replace them. I'm just wondering if there's a reason I've never seen a prelude with this kit (other than the price tag).
A whole bunch of people make big break kits, question is how much are you looking to spend?

I know there are a lot of kits, but k sport is the only one I've found that offers a rear kit with a replacement caliper to match the fronts, that's why I'm drawn to it. But, I've yet to see a prelude with this kit on it so I'd like to see if anyone has any experience with them and can give some feedback.

I'll admit a good part of my interest in the kit is the show of having both front and rear matching calipers. I hate seeing a big bad *** front brake kit and a stock caliper in the rear. Also, the front have the most pistons of any big brake kits I've seen. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean they'll brake any better than any other kit, but it definitely helps in the decision to try and get the best the first time.

did you notice you cant use your ebrake handle theres no cable hook up you might as well get a front kit and put your front calipers in the rear with some custom brackets

And how do you fix the severe brake imbalance from putting a caliper meant for the front on the rear?

Yeah I saw that, it concerned be at first, but I thought about it and figured I can come up with something to act as an e-brake.

The number of pistons has nothing to do with the braking force output by the caliper.

Like what? You're gonna use a lever that controls a lil wooden stick like back in ur billy carting days?
Seriously man - think about what you're doing to your car here...
