I have an 89 civic ef9 4speed with a d15a in it when u do a swap like a b16a1 do u have to change the steering knuckles and some other stuff someone told me that things needed to be replaced I need some help on this
EF9 Actual, or are you just slinging JDM code? Assuming you actually have the USDM car, the following items will need to be changed for the larger B-Series axles -
Steering Knuckles --> Can be replaced with the following, from better to worse
1. 90-91 Civic EX Sedan Knuckles (10.3" Brakes, Perfect Geometry)
2. 90-93 Integra Any Model Knuckles (10.3" Brakes, Geometry is altered)
3. 88-91 SI Knuckles
4. 88-91 DX/LX Knuckles
Do not use HF or STD knuckles.

No you don't.
EF9s didn't come in "4-speed D15A" flavor.
You have an ED6.

Yes. Civic STD and CRX HF axles have different front hubs and outer CVs vs. all other USDM Civic models.
To swap a B-series into a STD or HF, you must use knuckles from a DX/LX/Si or an EX, which have hubs that will accept a B-series axle.

The Civic Si uses the exact same brake system as the DX.
The '88-89 CRX Si has the same brakes as the DX. '90-91 Si CRXen use the same knuckles and rotors up front but have a slightly beefier Nissin 16CL13VN caliper (taken from the Prelude S model of that era) that uses FMSI D373 pads, as opposed to the smaller unmarked calipers with D273 pads. This caliper bolts right up to any '88-91 DX/LX/Si knuckle.

Funny
The 17CL14VN caliper itself was used on several different Honda cars, but with two different brackets - the bracket determines which pad the car takes, not the caliper.
Cars with Nissin 17CL14VN front calipers include:
- '86-90 Legend: D409 pad
- '88-89 Accord LX-i & SE-i: D409 pad
- '88-91 Prelude Si: D409 pad
- '90-91 Civic EX: D409 pad
- '90-93 Integra: D409 pad
- '92-95 Civic w/ABS: D617 pad
- '94-01 Integra (except ITR): D617 pad
