b16 running hot
my valve cover is like really hot to touch. i cleaned my stinless steel header tyhe other day and it was cool, but the cover was still hot. i think maybe now that i have had my b16 for a while, the old 89 dx radiator isnt cooling it enough. did anyone here swap radiators with their swaps? what was the result? my temp guage is fine and my enhgine runs strong...but i wanna cool her down a little.
change your fluid and check to see if auto zone or other auto parts store has some extra cooling additives i saw this guy at the track with a b16 turbo and he was putting this stuff in that looked like liquied murcury or somthing and he said it keep everything reall really cool .. other then that get a oil tem guage and water temp guage and keep an eye on it ..
Yea my valve cover is really hot also... but i think it is normal. The t-guage is normal 40%. O and a stick went through my radiator yesterday so i got a new one and it still had a really hot valve cover... so... I would say its norm...
gotta remember that your skin is more sensitive to heat than the engine. yeah 140 degrees will burn you but its never going to hurt your motor
i have a b 16 with stock civic radiator it is aways in the middle but i was woundringi fyou guys ever had this problehem when i am on the highway for about 30 miin and i get into it real hard in tec the temp will go up to about 70% and then back down is that anything to b worried about i just put a new thrmostat in and it still dose it ne advice aprichated thanks

I noticed my B16 gets hot really fast. It reaches operating temps within a couple of minutes and that's with the electric fan always on when the key is on. However, once it reaches operating temps the gauge stays right in the middle...no problems overheating. I think I still have the stock Si radiator, not sure though.

your ss header will cool down to "room temp" very much faster than the valve cover. and it will heat up almost instantly while the valve cover will take a couple minutes. that's just the properties of the stainless steel and its normal
