catalytic converter
My original CAT has been making weird noises for the past 2 weeks and I can't find out why. So I ordered a new CAT and it just arrived today. But, come to be, it's a test pipe. I'm still going to put it on tough, as illegal as it is, and wait for my inspection and put the original CAT back on if needed.
my grandpa has a honda dealership an the mechs said its my cat, but wouldnt take it off for me... ill get a test pipe but how do you take the cat off?? >-NoOb-<
unplug O2 sensor, and theres 2 bolts on both side of cat to un-bolt, recommend using pb-blaster to loosen up. and uhh thats it installation is the reverse of removal except when you remove O2 sensor move it to the new cat before reinstall then refer to reverse of step one plug the sensor back up

personally when you take the cat off i would look in it and see whats wrong loose honeycomb or what? im not sure on your car but is the O2 sensor in the middle of the cat ? if so knock all the honey comb out after the O2 sensor and see if what ever problem your having is fixed, i wouldnt put a test pipe on. sell it and stick with the easy fix.
yea thats cool so basicly try to fix it but if not just take it off an not put anything there? the honda mechs just told me that somethings wrong with it that i need a new one an it would cost 400$ i was like or... an they said take it off but we cant do it cause its illegal. but either way if i take it of or leave it on my stupid check engine light is ganna b on.
save the environment. keep the honeycomb
. if the car is a DD please keep a cat with a honeycomb. test pipe is only good for track cars as they are real loud and rasp a lot

no i havent had a check engine light yet, what state are you in though, i just remembered if u have emissions test this trick will defin. not pass. haha, but yah the environment will suffer alittle.
but we are not talkin about a 10 cylinder diesel comon now. yah this way would mean your keeping the same cat, i still dunno how they came up with that prob, but this may fix the prob. if not youll get some exhaust flow increase outta it.
again make sure you knock out AFTER the O2 sensor.

save the enviroment! there is little to gain from a test pipe other than its the cheap route. but if you look around you canf ind aftermarket cats as cheap as $200 or so. save on labor and do it yourself!

just wondering, where can I can a O2 simulator, and how does it work? Would I just plug it into the O2 sensor port?

yea, get a mangaflor for 160, and take it a small muffler shop, shouldn't charge more then 50 bucks for install, and they do a good job, and they do it fast within 30-40 mins
