Default Timing Belt Tension...slack

I installed the h23 manual tensioner along with removing the balance shafts. I believe i tensioned the belt properly however it seems to have alittle slack in the front on the long stretch from the exhaust cam gear to the crank but everywhere else is tight as can be. Just wanna make sure thats how its supposed to be.

i noticed when i did the h23 tensioner conversion, there was no slack at all and was very tight (more snug than stock, and alot harder to get on) but its been about 7-800 miles and its fine

Loosen the tensioner. Hold the intake cam gear with a 14mm wrench. Spin the crank counterclockwise while holding the intake gear from spinning. At the same time, tighten the tensioner. it helps to have a friend. This will take all the slack out.

there will be some slack. I once read on here that you should be able to turn the belt 90 degrees.

Some slack is normal. There is even an aftermarket piece you can install for High performance H22's in order to reduce belt flap that is common on that side...

Same here. It was a little difficult getting the belt on, but removing the rear tensioner bracket made a world of difference.
