Help with noise in front end.
first off, i have a 92 civic dx hatch (d15b7)
when not accelerating, or when slowing down (brake or without brake) i can hear a clicking noise (it slows down as i slow down, so i know its in the drivetrain.) it almost sounds like a cv axle. i know usually worn cv axles can be heard while turning but do they ever produce the symptom i am experiencing? if not, what could it be?
thanks, in advance, for your help.

This may or may not be what you are experiencing, but......I had a similar noise that was driving me crazy on my 2000 Civic LX. It seemed to be in the front end, passenger side when driving between 30-45 mph, regardless of braking or not.
I put the car up on lifts and crawled under it. Turned out it was the remains of part of the splash guard under the wheel well. One screw was holding the thing on and it was flapping in the wind at certain speeds. I took it off and discarded it and the problem went away. Hope yours is as simple!

yeah the car has 230k miles on it so its probably a maintenance problem, im just not sure which. i know its not a splash guard because the noise goes with the speed of my vehicle, the slower i go, the slower it clicks and vice versa. but thanks for the help rockworker
can cv axles click without the boot being ripped? seems like they could i guess if they are worn out enough.
thanks for the replys

Not really, besides driving it and taking tight turns and see if it clicks more.
