Default VTEC engages ??

i have a b16a JDM Sir II engine and the vtec pops at 6000 rpm and it does because i hear the boom sound.but i dont feel the power of being pull really hard. is it because my vtec shuts down for safe mod as i have the o2 sensor CEL on or maybe iacv CEL on ??? but i can still push the motor all the way to 7500 rpm

Running in limp mode. And vtec doesn't really hit that hard...

If there's any kind of "boom" sound when you rev, there's something wrong. Also, VTEC doesn't engage in limp mode, so you're probably describing an ignition cut.

My VTEC makes more of a tone change, than a "boom"
If your VTEC is going Boom, then something is terribly wrong with your motor, lol.

And yes, certain Check engine codes will disable VTEC.

vtec shouldn't kick too hard on a motor with stock cams, from the factory the engine is tuned to have a smooth power curve. if it has hotter cams, with the stock engagement point it could have a kick, but not on a stock motor that is running correctly.

Yeah, but you're talking logical - these people listen close, turn down their gangsta rap music 'n all just to hear VTEC engage.

It's noticeable, but it's not exactly a 300 shot of nitrous oxide.

EDIT:
If you're under the impression that the chassis twists, and the wheels break loose, and fire shoots out your exhaust, and you get drilled into your seat, and all that other happy horse **** - you're under the wrong impression.

It's a crossover to lobes more efficiently used for more air/fuel, NOTHING more.
