Default Check Engine Light, Codes P0700 and P0730

Check engine light came on. '98 make and automatic. Ran a diagnostic and the codes P0700 and P0730 came up. As far as i know,

P0700 - Transmition control system malfunction
and P0730 - Gear Ratio incorrect.

Some help on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

I'd try resetting it (disconnect the battery for 30 seconds) and see if the codes come back. Does it drive weird at all?

About how much would it cost to get a new one and what's the level of difficulty installing it?

Actually it does. It's hard to explain, but it's as if it isn't shifting correctly, and not only that it's been eating up a lot more gas. We've tried reseting it with some kind of OBD2 scanning tool. It actually worked for about a day, but then it started to act up again and the service engine light came back on just last night.

Tranny's are pretty cheap, theres one on pp.com for $350, pretty hard to install, if your not mechanically inclined.

pp.com doesn't seem to work at all. Would it be possible to directly link me?

Other than that, if this is a trans. control system malfunction, wouldn't that mean there's something wrong electronically instead of mechanically wrong with the trans.? I wouldnt want to spend money if this can be solved electronically.

p0730/p0740 codes are basically tranny killer codes. we get these codes all the time at Acura for TL's. whenever we get these codes, we just replace the transmission.

you might also have to replace the ecu/pcm and fuel pressure regulator. this is determined by VIN. don't ask me if you need to replace these cause I always let the parts guy worry about it. lol...
