2001 Civic has the same engine layout as the 1992-2000 Civics (tranny on passenger's side, engine on driver's side). The mounts even appear to be in the same location. I stress "APPEAR", as all I've done is look at it. I have not tried the swap.

The 2002 Civic Si hatchback is the only car for the US market that has the same engine layout as the RSX/2002CRV.

the intake manifold is on the front but the header is in the rear right?
thats backwards compared to all older honda setups.

I think the RSX and the new SI engines are like that but not the 2001 Civic engines. Someone said the new engine bay was too small to fit the B series engines...

2001 civics are exactly the same layout as previous generations, with the intake manifold by the firewall, and the exhaust in the front. only diference is the throttle body is facing up and is bolted ON the intake manifold rather than towards the battery and bolted on the side. the cab is bigger, and the engine bay is slightly smaller. a B series motor will fit......you might have mounting issues, and will have wiring issues.

2001 civics have a D series motor (d17a), and it's just the same as going from a d series to a B series into any other civic.
