Best Bit For Drilling Out Spot Welds
Im going to starting drilling out teh spot welds on my car as a part of my RHD conversion next weekend. And I wanted to hear some opinions on the best type of bits as well as techniques to go about doing something like this.
Thanks for all the help in advance

This is what I used. It is similar to the eastwood one except it just has a spring loaded sharp pin in the center instead of a drill bit. For me this matco one worked awesome. Looks like it would work even better than the eastwood one because the eastwood one still has a drill bit in the center which would have a tendency to walk when getting started. I've used the matco one to drill out a couple hundred spot welds and the cutters are still as sharp as new. Look around, there may even be other companies that make the one like the matco one.

You will not have to worry about the pins at all. The cutter head itself is replacable and the pin is held in by the head itself. There is no way that pin will come out unless the whole cutting head comes off. I can try to take a picture of mine to show you better.

would these bits fit a standard hand-held drill chuck?

bump for the matco one, but like mentioned, buy extra points and bits because if you drill at an angle sometimes you can break off teeth. besides that, its the best way ive found to remove spot welds.
All the major tool companies have the one with the spring tip. Thats the kit I personally use and have had them for about 8 years now and they are just as sharp as they were the day I first bought them. The company that actually makes them before they're re-badged as snap-on, matco, etc. is called Rota-Broach.
My only complaint is that they walk a lot. Im pretty used to drilling a hole first and then using the tool. The first pic shown with the drill bit makes the most sense, I'll have to pickup a set of those.
