i've seen some make 150 whp i've seen some make ~220 whp depends on the tune and other products you use... but you're workin the **** out of that turbo to make 200+

edit:assuming you're talking about the kit for the eg which is a tdo4h

I'm pretty sure they're carb stamped, but from what I understand it's hard to get them to pass emissions (so you just pull the charge pipe, put the injectors and ECU in there for smog).

Is it worth it?

Hell yes.

If you can tune it up to 200whp (which any healthy D16 can) you can pretty much rape any four cyl stock H/A engine 'cept for the K20 - which you'll run close with - and if you up the ante and run a lil dangerous you can take that too.

the basic non intercooled no bov kit is carb legal. i dont know if greddy got the bov and intercooler certified yet. another option for you is the edelbrock kit. it's very complete and comes with a better street turbo.

I think its worth it. A buddy has the kit and has had no problems w/ emissions or anything. I'll tell him to post on here. (if he doesn't, forgive me inadvance)

street legal if you buy the newer kit, leave it all stock or greddy equipped i mean npo tune you HAVE to be running on greddys tune, but who cares! you're in a HONDA

Yeah, you can probably push it to 220 but that's REALLY pushing it to the wall.

After that you'll need to build up the block, bore & sleeve it, lower comp & forged (maybe around 8, 8.5:1 CR) pistons/rods, then you're good to go.

http://www.turboD16.com
http://www.d-series.org

If you FULLY BUILD your motor you can throw 400whp as a daily driver. The degree of the build is up to you.

Or take Bisimoto's route and for the price of a GSR swap you can build your D to the point where it can suck up GSR's all motor.

As far as whats concerned? The motor or the turbo? The turbo might be running out of steam anywhere past that, but more and more people are making 250whp on stock block d-series these days. It's all in the tune.

My buddy has greddy tubro kit with an intercooler, 2.5" catback and its a very fun car to drive. Quite faster than any N/A b-series civic I've driven. During the winter it would boost up to 10lbs and it hauled quite a bit . If I ever get another honda and it comes with a d-series, I'll definetly go that route. IMO its a better "bang for your buck" than dropping a b-series (unless its a b18c5 but thats alot of $$$).

Yes I know you can swap a b-series, throw on a turbo and spank it, but for a DD its got plenty power.

Before I put in my b16 i had a z6 with the greddy kit, I just bought an ebay intercooler and a greddy bov, I used the e-manage that came with the kit and just got the ignition harness for it and an ebc. I ran on stock injectors at 9lbs of boost, the tune made a lil over 170whp and 165lbs torque, which mind you nearly maxed out the stock fuel system, but it was extremely fun to drive, and was very reliable for over a year. Make sure your motor is ready for it though before you slap on the boost.

The engine.

A stock D-series boosted to 250whp won't last too long, especially if you run it hard sometimes, regardless of how good it was tuned.

I know people personally that have them, and have had them that way for a year or more.

i have seen 302whp 251wtq D16z6 stock w/ thick headgasket -- T3/T4 -- 16.5psi -- on a effin AFC hack for petes sake so i think 220 ia an understatement

It's really not an understatement. Just because you've seen higher #'s doesn't mean that the setup will last for very long.

My little brothers z6 sol is pushing damn near 240hp on a completely stock bottom end, and has been doing so for 14 months. The kid is 18 and believe me, that car is pushed to the limit every time he gets in it. Granted he is running a walbro 255 and 650 precisions with a good tune on crome pro. Sleeves and forged internals are not necessary to hit the 250+ mark, BUT they are advised. His car has a great tune and he stays on top of maintenence, hence the reason for his motor's longevity.
