I have an 02 civic and I am in the middle of taking my trans out but I cant figure out what way the trans is supposed to come out..I tried through the top, bottom, and even attempted to take it out of the wheel well, which obviously i was stupid for even thinking that would work...Please, any feedback would be greatly appreciated

drop the subframe and it comes out. to get it out the top, you either have to pull the entire motor (with the trans on it), or take the head off, at which point, you might as well pull the entire motor with the head on it since you'll have all 4 motor mounts and the wire harness out.

(its less work to remove the entire thing than it is to take the head off).

you need to hold the motor up with a hoist or a frame support bar. presumably if you have the tranny lose right now, you're holding the motor up with something. However, be careful when you remove the subframe (i.e. get a honda manual) you need to mark the location of the bolts with respect to the frame so it goes back into the same place.

 

first you need to pull out the axles out then you need to support the motor then drop the subframe take out the 4 17mm bolts and disconnect all wires then you should be able to pull it out if you have a lift and air tools it would be easier
