Preludes with high mileage - check in
My '99 lude just turned over 136,000 miles the other day. I have been contemplating whether or not to get rid of her now or just keep it til it dies. The main reason of selling it now would be to avoid being nickel and dimed due to the high miles.
Any 5th gen Prelude owners out there experience significant problems once you reach over 100,000 miles?

got my 4G for 1100 with 226K on it. ran strong and compression was good, until i hydrolocked it
replaced with another H23 that had about 40k on it, ran great, until my oil cooler seal blew and oil starvation led to 2 spun mains and 3 spun rods

i'd probably still be beating the 1st motor if i didn't drive thru that damn puddle.

I got a 92 with 112k. That is young for a honda but for an american car, thats about how long its life is. Depending on how well you take car of your lude you should be able to push 300k easy. My last lude had 225k.
My '99 has 195xxx, original motor. Runs beautifully. I honestly don't think you should consider 130k to be high mileage, but obviously you will lose value if you keep it to, say 200k miles.
The question for you is, how much do you like your car?

I'm at 183k and the compression is still 210 on all four cylinders. Dyno showed power to be good as well...but every car is it's own testament...I would do a compression test and maybe a couple dyno pulls just to see where the car is at.
I just hit 153K on my 97SH and I have no issues with my motor. It still runs perfect from the day I bought her with 68K. Ido have some issues with 3rd gear grinding, but who doesn't?
As for burning oil, I burn about 1 qt every 1500 miles.
So good luck with the car, but I would keep it if I were you.

On the contrary, but you're likely too stupid to understand anything other than your bizarre Japanese-car-loyalty-inspired bashing of American cars.
Just crossed into 119k on my 4th gen.

That was totally uncalled for. You can have a conversation and disagree with someone without having to insult them.
And don't say that you were insulted by his comment, because its a matter of opinion. Unless you can have a conversation without having to insult someone, keep it to yourself, because no one else wants to hear it. We aren't here to read your insults, we are here to read about cars and share our experiences.

Life is harsh. Get over it.

And in response to your ignorant comment, Ive owned 3 american cars, Dodge Intrepid, Died at 130k, Cutlass Ciera died at 110K, and a Cadialiac Devill, died at 120K. Thats where I got my stupid information from. Then I started buying hondas, and have never been more satisfied with an auto.
94 4th gen F22 with 197K, just blew a head gasket, would probably go for another 100k with a new gasket and some minor head work, but Im using it as an excuse for a JDM H22.
5th gen with 190k. Replaced the motor after 180k. Start checking the suspension parts. Depending on where you live and how the roads are you may need some new stuff.
