Default weird starting problem- searched well, need troubleshooters

ef w/b16a s1 tranny searched for about a week now

starter has been rebuilt and tested.
when i crank it, it spins freely. i could probably sit there and let it spin till the battery died or the starter goes bad. starter is on the tranny right, connected, grounds are fine.

i'm about certain that spark, compression, fuel and timing are fine. do they even matter if nothings moving beyond my flywheel?

it was suggested to push the car in a gear to turn the flywheel incase it had some broken teeth, well that doesn't seem to work either.
any ideals?
thanks in advance

so the starter is not engaging the flywheel?

hmm..i'm no expert on this one,but i would think you have the wrong model of starter..unless the gear is supposed to move to the flywheel.

i dunno, sorry bro..i'll do a little research then try back for ya if you like?

had someone more experienced than me take a look at it today. evidently the flywheel is turning because the alt. belt will turn. i have spark, we checked that and there was fuel down on the spark plugs. push starting doesn't seem to work either. starter fluid doesn't work.

i don't get it, this car ran so fine before.
but yeh thought i'd update this and thanks everyone for your input.

Sounds like it has little to no compression. Is it flooded?

i doubt that, it's been sitting long enough to dry out i believe then the same thing happens again. a bearing has been mentioned (crank shaft?)
thanks for the reply
