Default 03 Accord: emergency brake light stays on

So I was driving my 03 Accord Sedan home yesterday and all of a sudden the e-brake light came on and won't turn off. I checked the:
- e-brake (that's all the way down)
- brake fluid level (full)
- rear brake lights (all 3 light up)
-brake pads (good)

I think my only other option is to take it in to the dealer but I'm trying to avoid getting screwed. Any ideas or suggestions?

well i guess if everything is in order your handbrake switch may be stuck or defective. or you may be dealing with an electric problem like a short somewhere in the e-brake light circuit

i hope it will be just the switch

Could also be the float in the reservoir for the fluid level. IIRC it is part of the reservoir unlike the previous generation which was part of the reservoir cap. I've seen a couple of bad ones on that generation Accord.
