I'm going to be polishing my valve cover tommorow morning and was just wondering if I have to replace the gasket when I replace it?

 

From what I have read, every place that I have seen says that you should.

I haven't done this myself, but this is what I have heard.

BTW, tell me how it turns out, and if possible, pics would be appriciated, b/c I want to do this sometime soon.

you don't replace it unless it is dried, or stretched out.

 

i just replaced my valve cover, and used the same gasket. If it's in good shape, you should be aiight. Just be gentle with it, and check for cracks. Good luck.

 

i stripped and painted mine cast iron and didn't replace the gasket...as long as it's not dry rotted you will be fine.
