tranny swap problems(is my used tranny junk?)
i swaped out my old blown b16 for a used ls and i cant get the linkage to shift, like its stuck on something, but it checked all and when i take the top part off the linkage the linkage moves fine.now that ii see that makes me think the tranny is stuck in gear or something. please any advice!!!
Come on one had a problem ever like this.can i do anything to get it out of gear?
also would a out of adjustment clucth cable cause this?

i did not start the car yet!! seem that i ahve a unique problem.when i hook up the linage seems to be stuck because cant move the stick at all but when i disconnect it,rolls around smooth so i do get what is going.if some can please tell me how much play sould the top point of a bseries shift linkage for a crx?mine olny pulls out just enough to get the bolt in!sould there be more play or is the used tranny shot?
the forks are inside your transmission. its not easy to change them
try this... disconnect the linkage completly, stick a 1/4 extension/screw driver into the hole in the transmission's linkage rod, and try pulling it out, pushing it in, moving it left and right. if it moves, your trans goes into gear. if it doesnt, the trans is prolly junk.
sometimes they get a bit sticky, dont be afraid to use little force. i mean, if its siezed, who cares if you snap a fork

you should have someone get under the car and put a wrench on the crank pulley and turn the engine a few turns while you shift. if you do this for a couple minutes and cant get it to go into a gear, then something is probably messed up in the trans.
sometimes the trans can be lined up just right so the shift collar gets hung up on the dog teeth of the gear, so it wont shift in, but a tiny little bit of rotation can sync everything up. good luck.

its simple! just take the tranny out and theres a 12mm bolt thats right by the shift fork. take that out and pull on the lever that the clutch cable is attched to, then ur all set

Thanks for the replies!!!!but the piece on the tranny moves perty easy.so now i think i have a the wrong shift linkage. Will there be a diffrent linkage for a ls tranny, beacause is used to have a b16?and if theres no diffrence in shift linkage the bolt on the tranny on clicks three times, also when i have a friend pretend to but it in first gear, that blot needs to come out aout 1 in for me to be able to connect the shift linkage.trying the crank trick tonight.

I actually think that changing a shift fork is fairly easy as well, once you drop the trans. To each his own.

top pic is the power steering rack assist, it shows the rack the speed of the drivetrain to adjust the amount of effort the rack assists.
the second one is the trans vent, too much oil, smoke, gremlins. its just there to let anything out. it needs a rubber cap so stuff doesnt get in. go grab one from the yard. or even better yet, that shitty ricer kid that everyone in town hates.

That is not changing the shift forks....Bad info
Sounds like you are describing the Clutch Fork....
If you can shift at the transmission and hear the gears engaging...go over your linkage...make sure that it isn't missing any pieces. If all is good. Next move onto your clutch and make sure that it was installed properly
Move one step at a time and check the easiest and most obvious places first
