Default removal of crank pulley

Alright, like the title says. I'm taking off the head on my d16z6, but I can't get the stupid crank pulley off!! I've tried the way in Chiltons- stick a screw drive between flywheel holes and bell housing(didn't work). Tried a brand new Ingersol Rand impact at 125 psi-didn't work. So, I ended up cutting it, just so I could have my bro take it in and get working on it. But I still gotta get that pulley off to put the new one on eventually, and it aint coming. Is it reverse threaded maybe? I have no clue, it won't budge. Thanks for help...

What's the tool man? I know about using a jack handle for extra leverage, but how do I stop the engine? One guy told me to stick a block between the block and the rod by the crank journal? Is this a good way to do it?
My compressor's brand new Craftsman 6hp, but ,max is only 135 psi, I probably need more to use the impact wrench. Thanks though guys, we'll try tonight...

you didn't need to cut the timing belt to remove the head on a honda, just push the belt off the cam gear. It's not easy, but easier than removing the crank pulley.

To get the crank pulley off, put car in reverse(strongest gear), and have sombody hold the brakes. Then you need a 4 ft breaker bar(only thing i've ever been able to use) You will think your crank is stripped when the thing finally pops free, but when it's loose, it's cake from there.

The "tool" is a unit that moroso is making now, and I think honda makes one too, which is a giant allen key on a stick that you insert in the crank pulley and holds it in place while you pop it free.

Here it is, see moroso.com.

Thanks a lot Plan B. We'll try the reverse thing first, if not, then get that tool man. Thanks again...
