ok i plan on doing the complete jdm first gen b16a obd 0 swap in my 90 crx si. i want to reff it so it is legal here in cali. someone said that this will not be able to pass because i will need some usdm parts on there to be able to bar it. what do i need???

 

You cannot bar an obd0 b16a because that motor was not offered in the us in those years...you have to convert over to obd1 fully and hope that it passes. Even with the obd1 conversion done right, it does not mean that you will be able to ref it. You do need a us manifold along with a us ecu to pass smog though. The jdm ecu's and manifolds do not pass. Your swap also have to look 100% STOCK. This means no carb legal things like header, intake, exhaust, etc. Some refs will still bar with CARB parts, but to be safe, you need to make it look stock. Also the wiring needs to be done neatly, not hacked together and have masking tape all over it. Again, I repeat, IT NEEDS TO LOOK STOCK AS HELL!!

good luck with that, those kinda shops are word of mouth and few and far between, if a shop gets caught passing cars illegally they lose their smog license and its good money. make sure all the vacuum lines are hooked up correctly and your PCV system is all there as well.
