The secret's out.....J Hump's Lexus current #1 Qualifier at U.S. Nationals!
I was sworn to secrecy at Maple Grove.....now the secret's out!
Robbie Hudlow (Super Stock heavy hitter) drove the RaceRedi Lexus GS 300 to the current #1 spot in Comp. Eliminator at the US Nationals. This is the first time any car has come out in CC/AT trim this season, and they took #1 right off the trailer. Justin told me it'd qualify #1, and he wasn't lying.....so far. The car went 7.354@173mph with much more left in it. Hopefully Justin can duplicate that performance in Pro Stock!

Justin said that the Lexus will be out at the end of the season, but I think Robbie will be driving it then, as well.

is that pomona-nhrasc?
is that pomona-nhrasc?
OMG they have more racers in Comp eliminator than SC has in all the classes combined!! http://www.nhra.com/2007/event....html
Left Lane: Robbie Hudlow Runs 7.354/173.65/-0.646, Now #1
CC/AT Index: 8.00
Right Lane: Mike Smith Runs 8.608/157.28/-0.352, Now #16
G/AA Index: 8.96
Hudlow's car is a championship car in the Xplod Series. Might be a soft index...still a nice run.
Man is it me or what. But it seems that all the NHRA reporters are afraid or banned from talking or wrighting anything with the words "sport compact" in it..
Thank SONY hope you stay for a while.

I'm not sure about Pomona, but Justin said they would try to make Englishtown for sure.

Well....Comp racers are an elite group. Most of them have been racing Comp since before most of us were born. Some people (David Rampy, Vinny Barone, Frank Aragona, etc) race Comp for their living. No win=no eat. I talked to a guy at Cecil County Dragway this past weekend who races H/SM, which is basically a real small V-8 (268 ci) in a heavy back halved car. He spent $53K on the motor he had, and it broke (snapped a rod) after it's 3rd pass. The US Nationals is always going to bring a lot of Comp racers out, since this is the only time it will be a 64 car field (hey, it's the US NATIONALS!!) I feel like those of us in Sport Compact are the Comp racers of our generation, it's just that we haven't caught on with the masses yet.
By the way: There ARE 2 classes that front wheel drive sport compacts can qualify for in Competition Eliminator. They are AA/AF and BB/AF. I'm surprised nobody has come out and attempted to run these classes yet. Most Hot Rod and Pro Front Wheel Drive cars fit into those 2 classes.

my dad raced in comp for 15 years the class is great. just like q16 without a breakout. watch out you don't want to wack the index to much.

bb/af index is 8.60 eggum could run that class and be at the top of comp. .650 under if they ran it all the way out.

How are the rules setup for that Neon in Super Stock compared to NHRA SC Street Stock classes?

Yeah, i assume they're being careful now because they shut it off early in round 2 qualifying.

the car is built for specifically that class and would not fit in with the NHRASC. But its a very very clean car if you get a chance take a look. I know it doesnt sound to be much with the times posted but these rules are more strick than you could possibly think. He is doing very well for himself.
Back on topic im stoked the Lex will be back hopefully it will stick around for a while too.

Sorry about that Steph and Jeremy. You could dominate Comp with your combo if you wanted to come out and race Lucas Oils and Powerade.
