87 is the older body style (1st gen). They started the 2nd gen 88, and finished in 91.
You will need aftermarket mounts to fit the b-series in the 88-91.
Im not sure if the mounts are the same with the 85?-87 models.

Other than the obvious difference of looks structurally they are totally different. the 87 is a little lighter than an 88 but not by a lot. You can fit any B series motor in the '87 using a mount kit, HASport has a good B series kit. An H series on the otherhand isnt really worth the trouble of trying to put it in such a small car. You can build a B18 or B20 to be just as or even more powerful than an H series for the same price or maybe a little more/less. A B16 will fit perfectly same with B18b/c except for the GSR intake manifold which ive heard wont clear the firewall. An H series is possible but i dont think its worth the hassle. Hope that helps.
1G + B-anything = way too fast.
pick up a 85 Si. They weigh about 1800 lbs. There is a rumor of an aluminum one that weighs 100 kg less completely stock(except for the aluminum parts!!!!
