98 Accord, turn off remove key but windows still go down and up???
My son told me that he can turn off the car and the windows will still function and then when going to start back up again he may need to jiggle the key around to get it turn over, I'm figuring a bad ignition switch???? He has around 138000 miles on it, any mechanics near Pittsburgh want to do a timing belt??????
Any help would be great, let me know if you need more info.....

After turning off the car, key out, the windows can still be functional. Once you open any door, the windows cannot work. Its due to a relay. A nice feature In my opinion.
Why don't you put some silicone spray on the key and insert it into the slot. in and out, turn back and forth. Keep doing that at least 5-10 times. It helped me.

Yea i like that window feature. It helps when you forgot to put up a window or something and instead of having to turn on the ignition u simply press the button.
I have a problem turning my key on when trying to start the car. My friend showed me that instead of pushing in the key to turn the ignition, jiggle the key slowly out of it and try to find the spot where you can turn the key.
Well, my son finally brought the car over and parked it in the driveway. We go out to check it out and now it won't start. He related that he wasn't really jiggling the key, he would have to attempt to turn it over several times unit it would turnover. When I try to turn it over I get a clicking noise in what I believe is the starter. (leftside, too long skinny bolts attaching it) Could it be a solenoid or do you think it's the starter? The car now has 141500 miles. Thanks in advance.
I believe this is the starter going bad. I had this happen to my dad's Galant. Sometimes it would start and sometime it wouldn't. Take it out and bring it to Autozone for testing. Then take it to another place and test it to make sure that the starter is bad. (the reason being, my starter was good in 1 place and bad in anohter) If that is ok, then it is the ignition switch.
By the way, hows your battery charge?
Oh yea, there was a recall on the ignition switch. Call a Honda dealer to do the free repair. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/c...s.cfm i'm not sure if you can see the results, but yea...

Battery charge is good, I'll pull the starter and take it to Autozone. Anyone have an idea on what a new one would cost or should I hit up the salvage yard?

Removed the starter and took it to two different places and they both tested it and related that it was good....... could it be the main rely? I had purchased the vehicle used and according to Honda Owners Link the ignition switch recall was fixed in Nov of 2003. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....
as long as you do not open the door, power remains for some accessories for up to 10 minutes in the car. After that time, no more power.
has the ignition switch recall been done on that car?
