Default running on 2 cylinders

Hi

After working on the bodywork of my d16 crx all day the car decided not to start.

Actually it will just about start but it runs really badly and needs constant accelerator action to keep alive. It sounds like its running on only 2 cyls.

I should mention the car was really low on fuel. Could a load of crap sucked from the tank cause serious problems.

Some things I have already checked:

----------------------------------------------------------

Spark leads fitted ok

Main relay soldered

New distributor tried

New magnecor leads

New plugs

No error codes or CEL's

Earths seem good

getting a spark on all 4 plugs

resistor box/injector resistance ok

----------------------------------------------------------

its only running on 2 cyls. Seems like a fuel problem.
The two closest to the dizzy are fine. When I pull those leads the engine cuts but when I pull the 2 closest to the cam end it makes no difference.

Basically those two cyls cam end cyls are not running.

They look wet (with fuel - I think) rather than oil. The 2 dizzy end cyls are dryer.

I know theres a lot of 'not starting/poor running' posts but this has got me stumped

any help appreciated

Even though the injectors' resistance is good, they may not all be good...I just had this same problem, and two of my injectors weren't spraying as much, and the others would flood.

Here's what to do...unbolt your fuel rail, and pull it up over the valve cover WITH the injectors still attached to it...put a towel that you won't mind runing, over your engine/valve cover, and anything else you don't want to get gas on...have someone turn the key to the ON position, but DO NOT start it, while you hold the fuel rail away from you...have them turn it to the ON position and leave it there. Check the injectors' spray patterns...they should not leak too much after the fuel pump is done priming. They will drip a little after, but for the most part, they should ALL have the same spray pattern...

hi
Pulled the fuel rail out - did the ghetto ' aim the fuel rail' job. Basically when I crank there is no spray pattern coming through the injectors. There is fuel in the rail as the pressure popped one of the injectors out of the rail.

The resisior box shows correct ohm readings

blocked injectors?
all of them

it might possibly be that your injectors are all dirty.Maybe not be the case but if you have fuel pressure and are wired up right. then thats most likely what it is. my zc had the same problem It was running on 2cylinders. I thought the motor was bad but I took the injectors out cleaned. I let them soak in injector cleaner for like 5 minutes. cleaned them off. and popped them back in. have been working fine ever since. that **** started right up. so i hope thats the case for you easy fix. and practically free

thanks guys - I have since got the injectors working and tested them as good on another crx (zc) still not running right though. Next step is a compression test i think
