from personal experiance it has been a noticeable difference after wrapping.

theres always the argument that it causes cracks, but I think thats only race type conitions.

Curious as well. Does wrapping just the DP help reduce it to a noticeable amount? I just cant see myself hiding that pretty peakboost topmount in ugly wrap as well.

Heat wrap does help, but it will cause your manifold to wear faster. It holds in water vapor that can cause the manifold to rust.

As long as your not running a manifold the thickness of a tin can you will still get decent life out of the manifold.

You can also JET HOT coat it.
I have no experience with JET HOT.....but it's supposed to reduce the temputure and prevent any type of rust. I think it 'protects' the metal.
There are also other coatings to reduce temperture and protects the metal.

I heat wraped my rev hard cast iron manifold and it ended up cracking. I would probably do the dp though and the intercooler piping.

Use heatwrap, the thermal coatings (EXCEPT FOR SWAINTECH) don't do ****. I've had them.

I dont know about that. I know the place I had mine done at does all the local racecars up and both the outside and inside get coated. ( you might be able to tell from my pics) While swain does good stuf I highly doubt they are the only company that can do a good coating. They just got better advertising skills than the rest.

I'll agree that spraying the exhaust wrap with a coating/spray that they sell will triple the life of it and also help keep heat down.

I had a DC header wrapped and coated with DEI's own spray paint for it and the header looked almost new when it was taken off years later. Of course anytime that they got scraped or something I would recoat to make sure they stayed sealed and the wrap wouldnt fray open.

I was going to wrap again before I decided to coat. I figred it was going to cost me about 100 dollars on enough wrap for the mani/downpipe so paying a couple extra dollars was worth it to me. Not to mention since I had the turbine housing coated I wont have to spend that on a turbine cover.

Either way you will notice a difference.

All those coating pics are from when the coating was new. Anyone have any coating that have been on for a year or so. What do they look like now.

What is the turn around time on some on the coating shops mentioned above.

I disagree 100%. My stuff doesn't get nearly as hot with the Swaintech. Don't know what your issue was, but it makes big differences for me. I used an IR temp gun while the car was on the dyno and was seeing between 400 and 500 F at the collector during and right after the runs. Runners were around 300 f. I even waited for heat soak to set in. Air temps were in the 80s.

My Swaintech stuff is still white, but it has a bit more yellow in it now (about 1 year of abuse). The stuff is hard as **** to chip off. I had to remove some to get a nut on, and I went through a couple dremel bits trying to grind it off.

Every time that I do a thermal coating it works amazingly well, especially on turbo manifolds. It drastically cuts down on radiated heat. It also looks great and stays looking great, plus it's cheap and relatively simple.
