My 96 integra ls has been overheating. I was looking around and i cant see no leak, some mechanic said i was leaking from some hose and i replaced but still same problem. when i let idle the needle staid normal, but when i took around the block the temp. needle started going up, i cant find no leaks neither cant my mechanic. What do you think it is. A friend to me to change my thermostat.

could be the thermostat. I would replace that just in case. They are only like $15.

could be a thermostat, could be a faulty fan switch, but i hope that you don't have a blown head gasket. check your coolant level and see if you need to fill up a substantial amount.

I was reading a book i have and im thinking is the thermostat because even though the engine is hot, the top radiator hose does not have pressure.

well now another mechanic came and said THAT the thermostat is good even though the hose has no pressure, he took off the radiator cap and was reving it for a little and when the fan turned on he check the coolant and since it had droped a little he said that the thermostat had open. He;s telling me i need to take the radiator to get an interior cleaning??? im kind of lost

you COULD just take out the thermostat and boil it to see if it really is working. sometimes with thermostats they would sometimes open and sometimes not, and get stuck.

if you boil it it should open. if u run it in cold water it should close. cheap thermostats tend to get stuck . and like everyone said, its cheap. OEM thermostat only cost me 20 bucks.
