what would be more cost effective and reliable in the long run? the h22 swap is gonna cost me a lil over 1500 into my eg and the turbo is gonna cost me a rebuild for boost on my z6 and then turbo parts with non-ebay stuff. help me out people thanks

 

definitely go with the h22....that's what im trying to do.....it's a good amount of N/A HP and a great motor to go n/a.....and na is just a little more reliable i believe.......now im not stating a fact, just stating my opinion.......

 

SOHC Boosted.. Cheaper and funner! A boosted car can be just as reliable as NA.

I'm going with a temporary 180whp setup on a d16y8 while I get another motor, a d16z6 and build that, and then I'm going to boost the **** out of that motor, going for 340WHP on a t3/t4 turbo

Yep.. My best friend just got his h22+tranny from a jdm prelude and once i'm boosted, he's toast.

Plus, it cost him ~$3,000 total for the entire swap, a few sensors were broken, had to get some re-wiring done, etc...

My boost setup will cost me $3,400 including tune, boost controller, turbo timer, everything. And it will only cost me like $600 to buy a few new turbo parts for my larger WHP setup on a different motor

 

im paying 1500 complete swap. axles, mounts, etc. all to fit my car. and the d16 is stock and needs a refresh b4 boost. i dont wanna boost on some tired bearings and bolts.

 

If you don't want tired bolts, etc.. get a new car. A conservatively boosted car will spank a stock h22, even one with basic bolt-ons.. You can turbo for the same amount of money.

a stock d16 is fine for boost, you don't really need to do anything to the internals unless you want more than ~220WHP out of it.

 

I am going to boost my f23a1 i have in my civic... i was told it would go good.. we will see i need to build every thing for the turbo... the car has AC and i am keeping that.. **** you need it here in AZ

boost is nice. i boosted my z6 @ 140,000 miles er so, and im now at 178,000, pulls just as hard as it did when i first boosted it, and i beat the crap out of the car everyday.

 

go h22 it will be more fun after you learn to like it. than maybe start building it. that should be fun.

 

i dont care which is faster. all i care about is which is more reliable and cost effective. like i said i can get the h22 with all the necesary parts for like 1500. turbo on my sohc will be more expensive (i think) cause i dont want any ebay crap.

 

h22 For sure. Less hassle with tuning/potentially blowing your motor.

Well are you planning on going with big big big numbers later down the road? Cause the h has more potential overall. ive also always heard na is more reliable. never had proof ion either direction but just what ive heard. i would personally go with the h. but its still your decision. the h will prolly be more cost effective in the long run also.
