Default Roll bar/cage solution for S2000

I have been doing research regarding a roll bar/cage solution for my S2000. It appears that there is no specifically SCCA/NASA sanctioned system approved for our cars. It is up to the tech inspector at each site to determine it's pass/fail status.

That being said, I am still interested in your thoughts on this what choices I have that will make me happy. I have a few criteria that I would at least like to have (f possible):
1. Retain the use of my soft top, and a hard top in the future.
2. Looks good (I like the "look" of the Cusco/Safety 21 bar/cage, but I'm aware that it doesn't pass any SCCA regulations). The Mugen bar/cage looks very similar in design to the Cusco one, does it pass specs?
3. I'm just about 6 foot tall and I pretty much need my seat as far back as it can go, as in the back headrest is just about touching the rear plastic hoop.
4. Affordable!!!! I know I can have one custom fabricated to my every whim and it cost me $2000+.

I'm going to ask a n00b question....get ready for it.....GO! Is there any sort of "good looking" bolt on bar/cage that is race approved? I'm specifically interested in all HPDE classes and basic SCCA runs.

Thanks in advance. Any pictures and suggestions/advice you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Of course, but it doesn't have any sort of structural reinforcements that a "normal" car has, right? Does having a hardtop alone allow me to pass tech specs at all HPDE classes? I didn't think so. If so, I'll buy one today!

what class are you running in?
the S2K along with other converts. to run if they have OEM roll hoops/bars which the S2K has.
yes the Cusco/safety21/spoon wont pass here yet are legal in japan in these sanctioned events.. the U.S likes things over engineered....

but you will have to go custom on the roll bar..
last i heard the autopower was going to be legal for SCCA but that was some time ago and never heard about it again..

you dont need anything to pass tech in all HPDE classes with your S2000.

really, for your first few events, there were other S2000 owners with no additional rollbar in my HPDE group. I personally have a hardtop, and ran with it because I never take it off. if the east coast is different, then whatever, youre at their mercy.

i dont think gofastlabs is still in business, they had a bar that was made to fit with the soft top.

i think hard dog is making a roll bar for the s2000 now, theyre propular with miatas.

i hope thats more helpful.

I can only speak for our organization, but with NASA-Mid Atlantic we do not dictate on HPDE car's the rollover protection - however some tracks, such as VIR, do not allow the S2000 with only factory rollover hoops.

Thanks for everybody's help.

I was told by 2 instructors at the Pocono HPDE event that any class higher than 2 will require an aftermarket bar/cage for the S2000. It looks as though every track is slightly different.
