Default motor knocking. problem?

i havent been driving my hatch for a while but i need to get the car running this week. its a stock d16y7 and the motor is making a knocking sound. the knocking gets louder as i rev and it redlines pretty low. i cant tell where the knocking is coming from but the sound is low when im idling. and back when the problem came up the motor used to shutoff after coming to a complete stop after accelerating. is this problem gonna take a lot of work to fix? should i just swap it?

if it's slow and deep and seems to go away a soon as you back off the throttle and it's more of a thud it's sounds like a rod and yes you will need alot to fix it. motor swap faster and ezer.

if it's high in tone and rapid it's valve's and i would adj. the valve lash Soon.

yea that motor is nearing its end - just went through the same **** a month or 2 ago with my y8 - got worse as i revved and eventually made NO power with alot of knocking and then i heard a loud pop and then parts scattering all over the highway - swap will be painless and alot cheaper - http://www.hmotorsonline.com/s...30021

good luck dude

Default Knowledge is good

Yes a swap is easier, but you won't learn as much if you rebuilt it yourself.
