Default help me pass my smog check!

What's wrong with this picture? I'm a gross polluter at 15 mph and 1799 RPM. I fail at 25 mph and 2094 RPM. Why the hell does 300 RPM make a difference? What could have happened from my last smog check. I didn't do anything to my car. Yet it shows my timing at 20 BTDC. Helllp! I wanna install my CAI!

20 btdc?

that is way off.

15 degrees is the correct setting

I believe that your egr is opening for that first test and flooding the crap out.

With your high NOx that's usually a problem with advanced timing/cheap fuel.

Here's what I would do:
Double check the ignition stuff. Regap the plugs, set to 15-16˚ BTDC timing and clean/block the EGR, also clean/replace your air filter.

The rich condition might also have something to do with dirty injectors. Also make sure your cat is nice and hot. It'll work better if it's hot. If you have to park the car for a while leave it idleing before it's put on the rolling road.

If all of that still won't pass you then dump a gallon of denatured ethanol into the tank. It'll run cooler lowering your NOx and it will run leaner reducing your hydrocarbons. It's not ethically "right" to do that just to pass and then neglect the underlying issue(s) but it'll work.
