Motor Build info.
Ok this is my first import motor biuld and i'm going to be building a D16Z6 from my 93 Del Sol. So far i'm looking at a high end street build. i want it to run on pump gas (Mid grade and up). i was thinking about. some thing like this.
NO TURBO"S
10.? ~ 11.? to 1 comp. ratio forged dome pistion (any one know where i can get them?)
edelbrock intake
cams of some type (please sugestions?)
port and polish
5 angle valve grind (i may go bigger valves) and if you have never heard of 5 angle grinds go here http://www.maximilianmotorsports.com I live just 2 blocks away from the shop.
H Beam rods (Who makes Them and where can i get them?)
bigger injectors (i would like to stay with the stock resister pack if i can. unless it a plug n play kind of thing)
HV oil Pump
HV/P fuel Pump
good street clutch (this will be a daily driver so NO 6-4 puck solid track clutchs plz)
i would like to stay around 25-30 MPG but as long as i Get More then 20 i'll be happy.
also will the stock ecu work or will i Have to find someone to tune it?
i have a chip that came with the car when i got it all i know is what is on the package. it reads
Racing Chip Install Kit
92-95 Honda Civic/Del Sol | Si/EX
8500 RPM Limit | 5200 VTec
37820P2885005200 P28 1:500
(Bar Code)
It has the papers for how to install the socket and every thing.
so the next question i have is if i put in the sockets do i have to use the chip or can i leave it out till i'm ready to use it??? and will this chip do me any good?
so if any one has a good list of parts for building a D16Z6 i would like to take a look. and please keep in mind i'm not some 16 year old kid with a good job living off mommy and daddy's dime i live on my own and have bill's to pay so please don't tell me to get some $2200 cam just cuz it come's with some sticker that say's over priced parts under hood please steal me!!!!!!!! in the box thank you.
and keep in mind i will be getting this in parts not all at onec it is kind of my winter project.(maybe longer)

10 - 11.1 compression...!??
Im @ 12:1 + at least, and on 91 octane
Im using stage 1 cams and made 182hp 132tq with just a built block ( im running an lsvtec though ) not a D. If you can build that lil D series head up you can pull off a little bit of power.
but personally, D series all motor builds are not very responsive to modifications.. Most people just boost em to get the most they can out of them things.. And they seem to respond well and hold up for the most part.
Even though i know thats not exactly what you were looking to hear I had to throw that out there....

well i was looking at at a turbo but i want to stay in the motor class at my local track and if i go turbo i have to run forced motor class and most of the guys at the track are all running V8's with blowers and i don't think i can get in the 10 -11 1/4's with a d16z6 to stay in the running. also even if i did i want a daily driver and if i hit less then 12 in the 1/4 for the street strip group i have to cage my car and del sol's look gay with roll cages and it's not that condusive to the whole daily driver aspect of it all. plus only getting to have one run at the track then get bared till i cage it is not my idea of a good time.
we do have 4 imports that run that class and thay allways get there asses handed to them.one is a nice biuld but he runs nitromethan and NOS on a b18 pulls 9-10 1/4 all the time. he's nitromethan so he has to run Outlaw class.
Most imports just put nos in there cars so thay can run the motor class but they have to give a 1/2 car to any one not running nos.

Why don't you want a Turbo? I'm not going to start and say "go Turbo" I'm simply asking why you personally don't want to. I know quite a few people boosting their Hondas and they get 25-30 mpg. Hell, I get 20mpg in my Cobra. It's quite simple, you have the power but you don't use it. If you use it, you're going to get less MPG. Shift early and often.
That list of ideas for the engine are going to cost you a crap load and you're not going to see much in return.
You're idea to go with bigger injectors and fuel pump are a waste of money because the car won't make enough power to warrant them.
Bottom line, you want to stay N/A and go faster, keep the engine alive longer than a year, and have a good time:
-AEM Cold Air Intake (specifically for the Edlebrock IM)
-Edelbrock IM
-Crower Stage 1 N/A Cam
-DC Sports 4-2-1 Header
-High flow 2.5" Cat
-Straight through mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust. (Straight through also means the resonator and muffler must be clean passages without air flow interuption)
These modifications alone will put you around 135 whp. (assuming the cam can get you 10 HP)
Next, you'll move on to the transmission and put in a 4.9 final drive, a lighter flywheel, and a good clutch.
There, you've got a fun to drive (in a straight line) Honda, that will be able to annoy stockish V8s.
