how can you tell if a clutch slave cylinder is bad? i have a 94 civic vx

 

if ur asking, its probably bad.

 

i can still change gears i have just wondered when does it go bad and if so how?

 

when mine went bad, i couldnt shift gears at all, and one of the lines tore, so most of the fluid escaped...

it'll leak clutch fluid and you will not be able to shift gears.
why do you ask? is there something wrong with your motor? tranny?

 

no i was just wondering cuz i was looking at my car and i had to replace the master cylinder but never the clutch clave, and im in the process of changing the tranny. thanks for the info.
