Default Oil light flickering

Well just today my oil light will flicker at idle and my idle will drop rpm's then go right back up. But if I gas it steady at 800-1000rpm's the oil light goes out.. So whats up?

I just filled my oil up because the oil light was blinking because I had really low oil levels now it just flickers at idle.

like I just said in the other thread, I bet your pickup is clogged, pop the pan off and clean it.

I had that problem as well, it would flicker at idle, but when I gassed it would go away. I was told it was my oil pump, hopefully it isn't that for you. But this was before I was going to get a rebuild so I got it all replaced. Check what they say first.

If you're lucky it's just a bad electrical connection if not then you need to identify the issue fast. That light comes on when your oil pressure is less than 10 psi. You're asking for a destroyed motor if you keep driving it.

Well I still can't figure out what it is.. This weekend I plan on doing a complete oil overhual.. that includes draining my oil, replacing the oil filter, cleaning out the pan then replacing the gasket and cleaning off the oil pick up.. Any other ideas of what it is? What kind of signs should I look for if the pressure really is running lower then 10psi? When the oil light comes on I recognize no issues or problems with the engine performance.

Also I have some pretty BAD oil leaks coming from somewhere behind the block.. could it be that one of my sensors/oil filter is loose and is losing pressure as well as leaking?

Based on your posts, it doesn't sound like you realize the seriousness of the issue. Reread the others' posts again. If it's not an electrical problem, your oil is either low, pickup is blocked or oil pump has failed.

Look in your helms for the procedure for measuring the actual pressure.

You sure the lights not just coming on b/c your idle is messed up? If the idle drops and the motor barely runs then you will barely have any oil pressure, and the light will come on.

Why does the idle change? Does your IACV need cleaning?

If its an possible electrical problem where could the electrical problems exist?

But wouldnt really low oil pressure effect the performance of the engine?

the light will not come on unless you cross a minimum threshold. Once it goes above that threshold (above idle) the light will turn off, but that still doesnt mean there is nothing wrong.

Your electrical issue would be between the oil sending unit and the ecu.

low oil pressure means improper oiling which is detrimental to the health of your engine. If you want metal on metal contact, keep driving the motor and eventually blow it up......sufficient oiling is a huge issue.

Alright, I'll have a look. and I just checked my oil levels and my oil levels are WAY above the 2 dots!!!!... Could overfilling the oil cause the oil light to come on???

remove some of the oil and get it to the right amount and see what happens.

fix what you know is wrong, then go to the next step.

Well today I went under and tighten up some of the oil pump bolts near the bottom close to the oil pan then I tighten some of the oil pan bolts which were REALLY loose.. I started up the engine then I let it warm up.. gave it some gas so I can see the idle drop when my oil light usually flickers and drops rpm's. it drops rpm's like before but now there isn't a oil light.. and I checked through the oil cap hole and I can see plenty of oil being squirted in the head.. but I am gonna give it a little test run around the neighborhood then see if the oil light comes on again then check to see if the head is recieving oil.
