Default 3'' Exhaust on Kseries motor

trying to put my car on the street and the last thing i need is an exhaust. I went up to see norris and was talking to him about what sizes to use and he told me if i were to use a 2.5 i would be looks to loose anywhere from 15 to 20whp. Does anyone have a sound clip of a 3'' exhaust on a kseries motor? i dont want to loose that much power, and know that people out there are running them.. thanks alot

eye candy

3in not bad on a k20, then again crx is tiny but it depends on lots of things...muffler/resonator/routing/length.

If thats what your running on the streets, I wouldn't be concerned w/ a 3" exhaust. Looks like your track ready...

Not really an answer to your question but something i was wondering for quite some time.
At what kind of whp does one need 3" for an all motor application? I'm building a H series myself and i'm wondering if i should go 3, 2.75 or stay with my 2.5".

I don't mean to jack your thread but seems like useful info. Good luck with your built.

yeah we have a 3" on our b-series crx and i have a 3" on our k24 EK and on my eg frog with b-series. for all the apps we utilize the magnaflow muffler in 3" and sound is not too bad, just that the motor's high compression really causes it to rumble.

if sound was #1 concern, i'd suggest trying to get a supra or rx7 fd3 apex world sport setup which would probably be 3", and adapt to fit in the crx, the apex by far is quiet as hell. only thing quieter is prolly Hytech 3" twin loop muffler or stock but don't think too many stock 3" oem out there.

thanks for all the imput... i just dont want to loose alot of power. Norris said with a 2.5 ill loose 15 to 20hp and with a 3.0 ill loose around 10hp... im not to conserned about the noise as im only going to be driving it every once in a while but i dont want to get a ticket everytime i drive it ya know... my main consern is HP loose though im going from this header to an exhaust so i know im going to..

cutting the megaphone off and going 3 all the way back no cat no muffler and its dropping off right after the axle... im getting it done this weekend ill take some pics

Instead of cutting the megaphone off, why don't you just weld a v-band on it and connect it to the 3'' exhaust? That way when you're on the street it won't be too bad and you can easily disconnect it when you mean business

With 2.5 you wont loose much, maybe 2-3uptop, talk to John @ Hytech, i remember reading how he stated you wont see much of a difference on reasonably stock K series swaps, but when you start making over 250whp is when you need a 3. Under that your ok.

And man let me tell you, personal experience with my 3inch, it Drones like a ****! If you dont care much about driveability inside the cabin, then cool go with a 3, as it def. wont hurt you. But if you like to talk to people while crusing and listen to your music loud and clear, then go with a well made 2.5 inch exhasut with 2 resonators and a muffler.

And yea dont try to run anything from the magaphone, its not made for exhaust systems as i understand it.

Edit: if you want a ride in a 3inch K series swap with no sound deadening let me know.

They make a World Sport 3inch universal muffler.

i was talked out of going 3 inch on my 200hp h22 set up by my "ex" tuner, i thought it would be proficient and super flowing, with a moroso race muffler to drop it a few db's and still appear to police that a muffler in use.
bout to just do a turn down straight off the header!!!!!!!

I can tell on my car you 3" was still REAL loud for a daily

I am going 2.5" on my next setup

edit right now you are at 214whp a 2.5" would probably benefit your set up
