Default HELP!! Cold engine wont start : Extremely weird problem

Hi guys,

My 95 GS-R's engine absolutely will not start after it was sit overnight. There is no cranking sound at all. You can hear clicks when the keys are turned. Fuel pump is going, Battery is fine. I am often left sitting in the car turning the keys, trying to start for 15 minutes, and all in a sudden the car will start up just fine. Once the car has started, you can turn it off and start it again no problem.

The ignition switch has been replaced a year ago, which solved the problem for a while and it comes back again. This only happens to the first start of the day. Starter comes with the car.

Do you think things are seizing up inside the engine, locking up the cranking/ cold start? I need your help! Thanks.

If things were siezed, they wouldn't un-sieze themselves....AKA would never turn over.

I would check your starter and the wires going to it first.

Also make sure that the ground on the starter is not loose.

Rusted positive teminal on the starter. Had a civic with a B18C1. The clicking noise you hear is the solenoid moving, but theres not enough power to to spin the engine, because the terminal is rusted.

I checked out the terminal before, and indeed it is quite rusted. I would pinpoint it as one of the potential causes. Thanks!
