Approximate weight savings?
Just for grins I was wondering how much weight you guys think would be saved off my 92 DX by removing the power steering, A/C, carpeting, trim and sound deadening. I tried searching if anyone had made a topic on this before and didn't really come up with anything. As it stands the car is screwed at the moment and I have a secondary ride anyway, so I was thinking about just doing a teardown on the old Civic for fun.
~100lbs
Sound deadening is about 12-14 depending on the car.
ac/ps is usually ~50lbs.
Carpet is something like 15.
Trim I'm not so sure about.
Are you going to remove ALL of the a/c lines?

Why stop there? Get the intire interior out of the back. Just leave two front seats and a radio.

Well I would but I would still like to keep my back seat just in case I would ever need to take extra people with me. Not that it would be very often, but you never know.

pull out all of the rear interior. keep it . and if you dont like not having it. put it back. if you need to fit more fatasses in your dx. put it back in. its common sense really.

It's not my daily driver you moron. I stated in my first post that I have another ride that is my daily driver. The Civic is old and crappy, I realize that, and that's exactly why I wanted to do this, just for the fun of it.

^^ That was definitely not a racial slur.
If the civic is old and crappy as you put it, then why not at least be comfortable in your old and crappy car? Obviously you are going to drive it often and carry people if you want to keep the back seat. Why not keep it the way it is?
What motor is in the car? I hope to hell its not stock. And if you are planning on anything less than turbo or a fully built n/a motor I would just leave it as it stands. If you are that concerned with weight, build the motor a little more compensate for the extra weight with whp.
