Default Brake Q

I just recently aquired a Brake Master Cylinder w/o brake booster and Prop Valve from a GS integra DA for $25 from my friend to put on my 92 vx. I was looking to put it on then I found that it looks like the prop valve has one less hole (4 on the DA one and 5 on my EG) for the hard lines, and the master cylinder won't line up with my stock brake booster (to bolt it up it would be mounted sideways.) I was thinking that these would work, but now that I looked, it doesn't look like they can work. What do I need to make them work?

Also does it matter if a MC/Prop Valve is ABS or not to go on a non ABS car?

You needed a prop valve from a non-ABS DA and a master cylinder from a 90-91 Civic EX (to be bolt on with the stock Civic booster).

So my DA prop. valve won't work.. Would the MC fit if I were to get the brake booster?

The prop valve won't work, but the MC will work with any 94-01 Integra booster, assuming both lines are 10mm fittings.

So a DA brake booster won't work? Yeah the lines have 10mm fittings.

are you sure they are 10mm. if the DA was abs, then one side is 10mm, the other is 12mm.

also, no the DA M/C will not work on your brake booster.
you will need to get a DA booster.

also, you mention your prop valve has 5 holes and the DA has 4. are you sure?

they both should have 6 holes. 2 for the lines coming from the M/C, 2 for the front and 2 for the rear. not to mention, DA prop valves look exactly like the civic's and are the 40/40 valves, which are usually needed for rear disc conversions. are you sure the valve is from a DA?

Yeah I'm sure the valve is from a DA, I pulled it from it, or maybe I pulled the wrong one (its pictured above). it was on the side of the pass side shock tower.

yeah they are on the passenger shock tower, but are you sure you pulled the right valve? they look exactly like the ones in the eg civic's. the only difference is the mounting bracket and they are stamped 40/40 vs. the civic's which is 40/30.

I don't see the numbers 40/40 or 40/30 anywhere on it. Do you have a picture available of a 40/40 prop valve I can compare it to?

click on the link, this is what it looks like. the civic would look the same.
you have to look very close for the numbers, since the engraving wasn't done that strong.

Now I'm sure I don't have the right valve. Ok. Do you have a pic of where exactly the prop valve is located on the integra opposed to the civic?

i have seen that valve on a 94 del sol. it had ABS and the Non ABS have the 40/40 6 holed valve if i had to guess you have a Prop Valve from a ABS system the one on my friends 94 ABS sol Looks the same.

on the civic the valve sits on the firewall behind the intake manifold.
on the integra (DA), the valve sits on the passenger strut tower.

Ok. So now I'm pretty sure I got a ABS prop valve. But the MC should work with my civic as long as I get a DA/DC booster right??

minus the bracket. If you want the DA prop valve to bolt to the firewall, you need to use the bracket from your stock p valve

yes, this is the only way it will work.

if the MC is from a DA then use a booster from that exact DA, including trim level.
also make sure that both ports on the MC are 10mm. if one is 10mm and the other is 12mm it will not work with factory hardlines. you will have to have some custom lines made up.
