Default Cobalt Friction pads question ???

I installed my new pads for my first track day and wow do they stop the car nice but my problem is the noise they are creating while driving around town and not braking. please look at the photos below and tell me what you think.
here is the OEM pad VS the cobalt pad...notice the tabs on the OEM pad (wear indicators ?)

Close up of OEM tabs

Close up of Cobalt non-tabs

Excruciating grinding that the lack of the tabs are creating on the spring clip vs the edge of my rotor. Any insight on what I can do to mend the situation would be wonderful

You need to remove that clip and bend it back some. The pad is bigger, just need to get the clip out of the way. It was a common problem we had to deal with at EXPO.

thanks for the reply, but wont that increase my problem? right now the clip is rubbing on the edge of the rotor, meaning the pads aren't extending past the rotor?

Also, if anyone is running Spoon calipers, be sure to order the ones specifically for them, because they rely on those OEM tabs to keep the pad in place. If you try to run the ones with the shaved tabs, they clunk around like nuts.

I'll have to look into this further once I actually start driving the car.
