B16A + Skunk2 Stage 1 cams = valvetrain noise
Today we installed Skunk2 Stage 1 cams into my b16. We adjusted the valves according to the specs on the included sheet. We started the car up and there is horrible valvetrain noise. We then adjusted the valves looser and tighter several times, and there is still ridiculous chatter coming from the head.
Anyone have any experience with this setup or know what the problem could be?

I am not an expert on that exact cam set but it didn't sound bad just loud.
Alot of the time cams will just do that. The quailty of audio wasn't the best but it sounded ok.

Did you rev it in the vid or was it just idle? Sounded like just idle to me.
Maybe someone who knows more about those exact cams can help you a bit more.

When those stage 1 cams are installed, you shouldnt hear anything abnormal. It should sound just like stock. What manual are u using for the valve adj. procedure? LMA's could also be going bad. I ddint bother to listen to the vid, too lazy.
That was at idle. Trust me, if you were there, you would know something was very wrong. Valves are at or around .007 intake and .008 exhaust.

As the diameter of the top is tiny considering my higher lift cams, I'm probably hearing binding and / or my LMAs have worn with age.
Fun project on my birthday eh?

Are u adjusting the valves properly, as in following the correct procedure? Its possible you have bad LMA's all of a sudden, but if its that loud, chances are u would have heard them tick even on stock cams. From what ive experienced the LMA tick is somewhat inconsistent. If u have some consistent clattering going on, id recheck your valve adj procedure and clearances.
BTW, i have skunk stg 1's in my B17 using stock LMA's. No noises or clanking.

There was slight valvetrain noise prior to the cam installation. I'm fearing the sound of the noise is the rocker arm tab slipping off the LCA top or possible aggravation of the already worn LMAs.
