Default I'm trying to replace my broke clutch with a performance but need help!!!

My clutch went out today and I talked to my mechanic and he said he'd put a performance clutch in if I brought it to him and got all the parts. I was looking on one site and the stage 1 clutch was $383 but than I saw the flywheel was seperate for $340 which made it like 800 bucks which I dont have. Most I could spend would be $500. Is a flywheel required for a clutch or is it a performance thing? I know I sound like an idiot but please forgive me to my noobness. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated I need to get this thing running in the next few days. Thanks in advance guys!

yes my friend without flywheel, starter has nothing to turn which will not turn your engine over. my clutch went out on mine @ 60k,a flywheel bolt came off and destroyed it, anyways if you are planning to build your engine get a stage one if not just get a stock one, save some cash, did the mech tell u u have to replace the fly wheel? i think they just resurface it or something like that cant remember.

i agree, a stock one would be a cheaper choice... and yes, the flywheel can be resurfaced, much cheaper than a new one

A car came into our shop one day. Customer states vehicle dies when you engage the clutch. We found that his aftermarket clutch pressed so hard that the thrust bearings wore out and his crank sensor reluctor moved passed the sensor, causing the vehicle to stall. Just a consideration...
