99 Prelude help...
My girls car threw a couple codes... misfire in cylinders 1-4 and something about DTC (scanner said to check service manual). At first, thought it might be fouled plugs but didn't work. Heard something about a coil that might need to be replaced on preludes every so often. Anyone know?
P.S. Does anyone have a downloadable service manual that they can send me?

if its stick.. did she ever drop it into lower gear at high mph? if so check the timing belt and crank sensor. i had the same problem in my car, but first of all do a compression test at a local service. bent valves might be the reason the engine is misfiring

She doesn't really drive hard or anything. Before it started with a misfire in 1 and 3 but now her CEL started blinking and it idles a little rough. Hopefully it won't be too expensive if it is.

yes, VERY good chance. switch it out with another lude distributor if you have a friend with one.

well the plugs are new but never knew that preludes needed "platinum laser" or "uridium" plugs. Gonna try the wires and hopefully everything works...
has anyone ever had a crank sensor go bad? if so, how does the car act when it does..

they dont need that type of spark plug, its just recommended. plugs and wires are usually just the easy quick thing to check. its likely the dist. or your crank position sensor. The crank position sensor relays where the crank is in degrees of rotation, while the cam angle sensor picks up when cyl no.1 is at TDC. if these two arent communicating with the ECU correctly, you get misfiring.
Okay so the "mechanic" told me that he couldn't figure out the problem and I'd have to bring it to Honda. He said that for some reason, the #1 injector is fouling. He can't figure it out and said it might be electrical. Then again, I talked to my buddy that used to be a tech @ honda and he said that the "ignition coil" or "coil pack" might have gone bad, and it's not very likely that an injector can go bad... I dunno. Gonna wait till tuesday I guess.
BTW, the mechanic still charged me for the new plugs/wires that he put in.

if the mech told you it was an injector, he should have switched that injector with one of the ones that works. and if the misfire follows the bad injector you switched, then its bad. really though, you NEED to get a manual and then you can troubleshoot it yourself the SAME way honda will do it.
