I purchased a replacement shift **** for my 5 speed 2001 accord ex. How do you take off the old one to install the new one?

u do the opposite of what you would to do a drunk bar wench.
unscrew it.

 

if yours is attached to the boot then you have to take out the center consol

 

Slide the boot down, then turn the **** counterclockwise. It may be stuck at first, but it'll go - just make sure you are turning counterclockwise (remember: lefty loosey, righty tighty).

What replacement **** did you get? The leather one? I had been looking at that for my '99 but wasn't sure if it was worth the $42.

 

I already had the leather one actually, I bought a chrome one with red gear numbers.
