Thanks! This was the first time I built and tuned my own motor. Simple refresh: hone, re-ring, and bearings. Speeddreamz (Tracy) showed me how to hone, and my friend Yosuke showed me how to measure ring gap. I tuned it after the Bham meet.

I didn't see any gains from 28 to 29 degrees of timing at WOT, so I left it back on 28. It seemed to respond best in the low 13s. I'm not really sure what is going on after vtec engagement at 4.8k unless it simply needs more fuel for high cam. It leans out to 13.6 there I believe. I have the .bin file if anyone cares to take a gander.

it looks really good scott. are my eyes deceiving me or is your torque flat as a board?
i'm really impressed with the power you made out of almost nothing.

Clean coupe.....nice #s for a more or less internally stock B16 (given it has the gsr head, but thats not exactly a huge difference).

I think most say a gain of 0.1 compression.

Flat as my stomach. lol The tq curve is due to 3 hours on the dyno. I didn't claim to be a perfect tuner, but I sure as hell didn't have to pay for the tuning software or dyno time. Shameless plug to follow: Mobile Electronics Tuscaloosa AL 554-1554

Blah, blah, blah..... JK. It turned out pretty well. Scott did good for his first tune, he was paying better attention than I had thought.

Stock B16 is 160 hp at the flywheel. 100k motor and less than 10% drivetrain loss. Stout!

Took awhile though. I could have kept chasing after that lean spot after vtec engagement there, but close enough.

Number like 150 on a bolt on b16a are absolutely impossible. B16B makes less than 150 with bolt ons..

not bad #'s for a usdm b16.

the tb/im is crazy overkill on this motor... however i have a feeling this was a baseline dyno to see what it'll gain with cams.

I would use stock or 62mm TB and add Type-R/RM M21/S2S1 cams.

Edit: a frined recently added ITR cams, the cheapest 4-1 header and fabricated an intake and made 20hp (dyno tuned) over stock

Don't temp me. LOL Cams need valvetrain and compression........at least the ones I would end up getting.

Well, those items came off my previous motor. It had S2S2 cams, omnipower valvetrain, P&P P72 head, and p30 pistons. It put down 183whp at 9k, so swapping those parts over is overkill for this setup.

Those cams are fine with stock cr.

True. But extra compression always makes a difference. They are also the same price as the bigger cams from the same company. After having S2S2 cams, I gotta go back with a similar cam or larger.

the vtec transiton would be smoother with more fuel right there....you can probably touch the timing up right at the cross and help that SMALL dip out if it really bothers you....looks good to me though!!

Eh, it doesn't bother me that much. I could have stayed on it for a little longer, but oh well. I just wanted to point it out before anyone else. lol

Anyways, it just needed more fuel. It was more lean than that, and I added about 5% fuel there to get it as you see on the graph. It leans out there to 13.6. Still plenty safe. It favored the low 13s, so that is why you see it hugging that dotted line at 13.0.
