Is there any write-up on how to install a torque damper on a 1999 prelude? I already searched but I could not find anything.

which torque damper did you get? it should have come with instructions. but either way its really easy, you just bolt it to the motor mount on the drivers side and to the upper control are bolt.

 

Bolt one end to engine, bolt other end to frame.

 

Which damper would you recommend? I've yet to see one available for a 4th gen with an H22

You can use an NRG damper for the 94-97 Accord...and most likely the Ingalls 5th gen Prelude damper. The NRG damper worked great for me, but I got rid of it when I got my motor mounts. On the other hand the guy who bought it from me apparently had it break on him

 

I got the Ingalls one. I didn't get it in the mail yet I was just asking for when I get it. So it comes with instructions?

 

I intend on just getting a poly rear mount to mildly stiffen it up

 

Does it actually make a difference though? or is it mostly a show-piece?

 

I noticed much less wheel hop (almost none) in higher RPM shifting when I had it installed, I took it off last week to fab a bracket for it this weekend and the wheel hop is back. Also I noticed a little more body vibration when idle (could be my idle is too low 700-800 RPM)

 

This is with the NRG damper?

It does cut down on engine movement, but the vibrations (on mine) were pretty bad...worse than with the Innovative motor mounts.

 

yeah I have NRG engine damper from a Accord modified into my 92 PRELUDE but I do not like the way lower bracket sits on the engine mount, so I will fab one on my own this weekend.
