Default D15b, tastefull mods

so i scraped the d17 swap, and picked up the d15b, really clean engine.

i got an SI tranny its being matted to. but whatare some pretty popular mods i can do to my car other than intake and exhaust. im looking for engine mods,but not nitrous and turbos...

nothing that is worth the money.

You have a 16 second car, live with it.

i think u should change your title to
D15b, wasteful mods

dont waste your money on d series if u are not going tourbo or sc.

Swap in an EX tranny, and put a lightweight flywheel and performance clutch. Upgrade your suspension and tires. You can have performance. Performance doesn't always mean going in a straight line...

I agree with hatchling37, I don't know why everyone is a bunch of D haters, BTW check out D-series.org for good D upgrades.

i am not a d series hater and in fact i used to drive with a d series.but i am just saying without turobo and sc. the performace upgraded is limited, not talking about handling, just engine performance.

more specifically, a S20 tranny, avoid the S40 ex tranny.

real simple mod for a slower motor is compression, raise it buy dropping 2layers in your head gasket. removing the middle and bottom layer, don't forget to use copper spray.
light flywheel is a good idea.

I have no idea if it applies to the D15B, but on the B7, you can pick up ~20 whp from an A6 cam, Y8 Cam Gear and Z6 IM, plus make ridiculous gas mileage. Research on Dseries, you'll only find haters on Honda Tech. Look up Transrex, he is the man when it comes to the single slammers. Good luck!

the s20 is the ex tranny from 92-95 having a shorter ratio then the 96up s40 ex tranny....

Is this incorrect?

the S20 is the CX and SI tranny from the 92-95. the s40 is the DX tranny from the same years... s20 has shorter ratios for quicker accel . and the S40 has longer gears for better top end. if your boosted an s40 is a great choice.

96-2000 the tranny codes are opposite if im not mstaken. because ihave a buddy with a 2000 SI and he has a s40 trans.

btw im not planning on boosting this motor..

but i like the annorexic headgasket idea. i might get underdrive pulleys if they are worth the hype...

this car is my daily driver for a little while.. my fun toy is a 05 mustang with a TT kit being installed while i drive my little rocket around

s20 = 92-95 trans
s40 = 96-00 trans

b000 on 92-95 = 2 or 4 door ex, also 3 door si. del sol si has the same gears except 5th is 0.750 instead of 0.702
b000 in 96-00 = 96-97 del sol si, 2/4 door ex. b000 case is also used on 96-00 hx.

gears
1st = 3.25
2nd = 1.909 (96-00), 1.9000 for (92-95)
3rd = 1.25
4th = 0.909
5th = 0.702, 0.750 for obd1 del sol si
final drive = 4.25

y8 has a shorter 2nd gear than z6. del sol si z6 trans has a shorter 0.750 5th gear.

where the gasket has the poprivit looking thinigs. you can drill em out to seperate the layers.
The best way is to have arp studs, so you can bolt that head down to about 75-80lbs. Copper spray is at autozone. Spray it on about 3 times, let it get tacky.
