Default How can I confirm that an engine is what it is?

Engine in question is from an '88 CRX Si. Getting a good deal on the engine and tranny, but need to make sure we're getting what's advertised and not something else. Are there any casting numbers that would confirm this and if so then where?

Thanks!

there's a stamp in the block below the distributor right by the tranny that shows which motor it is. look left of the headers.
