Default Piston Skirt Support

Ive begun a h22a4 rebuild lately. Motor was hydrolocked and #4 rod snapped. After snapping, the bottom half of the rod smashed into the very bottom of the cylinder. Took a chunk out of the bottom of the cylinder. Width of the connecting rod and maybe half a centimeter tall. My piston ring marks are prolly 3/4 of an inch above the top of this chunk. Has anyone rebuilt a motor with a similar problem? Will my piston not be 100% support and over time start to wobble and develop problems? I wont have an issue with losing compression i believe. Right? Sorry about the tough description. Let me know if anyone wants a picture of it. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

picture would be good. im not sure if i totally understand, but you have a chunk out of the cylinder wall right under where the rings sit right? sounds pretty shady to me if thats the case.

yeah, the pics are kinda bad, but i think you'll be OK if you want to keep the block. clean it up with a grinder. sometimes people clearance that area for a big stroke crank, so it can handle losing some material. just hope there arent any cracks where you cant see. so the best bet is to bring it to a shop where they do this stuff all day.

do you think when the rod hit the wall it bowed the wall outwards? This is my first motor build so idk if that happens at all, im just beginning to pull it apart so i will mic it eventually but just wondering if anyone has heard of that either?

my block looked just like that, caused by the same thing. I put in eagle rods and 0.25mm OS type S pistons and it has been fine for the last 30k.

if it's just in the cylinder sleeve.... worst come to worst... if your gunna build one anyways, go ahead and sleeve it... but if your not tryin' to spend all that money then just go with what these guys are ^ suggesting... it's definatly gunna be the more cost affective way for a DD

if you notice in the crappy pics i posted...sry bout that, on the crank it looks like the piston after the rod snapped must have fallen down and the crank continued to turn a couple times causing it to scratch the crank. Ive never delt with cranks or anything before, do those marks look bad or is it something i shouldnt even worry about?

if all it did was take that chunk out be happy. when i hydrolocked mine i somehow ended up with TWO holes and there was a nice size crack down half of it. i cant tell from the pictures but i think you can salvage yours.

good luck

update... did some measuring tonight, all cylinders tops and bottoms are within factory spec which is a good thing. DOes anyone have any advice about streetable/reliable setups with a damaged cyclinder like mine? Anything to avoid or anything to try? thanks
