Default 97 Accord overheating

I have looked through some of the posts on overheating and was wondering if anyone could clarify some things for me? My Accord is overheating at idle but not at speed. When I turn the car on no fans turn on, then when I turn the ac on the passenger side fan turns on and the AC blows cold the driver side fan never turns on. Thoughts? Also the fluids seem fine in the radiator and reservoir. Thanks.

check if the fan on the driver's side is busted

unplug it and put some wires from it straight to the battery, if it doesn't come on, that motor is toast

if not it's a sensor somehwere (i forgot which one) my problem was the fan motor

I did that and the fan won't turn on so I am guessing the motor. Do you know where I can get the right motor for this? Is this the ac condensor fan or the radiator fan? It is on the driver's side of the 97 accord. Thanks for your help.

depends if it is a 4 cyl or v6
if it is a 4 cyl the driver's fan is the condenser fan ,,
if a v6 the main cooling fan
when you tested the motor did you apply both power and ground ??

As I thought about your post I wondered if I understood your question. I pulled the plug from the side of of the fan and the plug had two posts. I attached a wire to each post in the plug and attached the other ends to the car's battery and got nothing. So I may have missed something just let me know. Also I had just a question, when I turn the AC on, the passengers side fan starts turning and when I turn the AC off that fan stops so is the AC connected to both fans in some way? Thanks.

No, you did it correctly mindsight, sounds like your fan's motor is bad. I had the exact problems you were having.

Options

1) universal fan + zip ties
2) oem new
3) oem used
