Default 0VER REViNG*SHAKiNG WHiLE SPEEDiNG UP

Ok, When I first bought my 99 Prelude from a used car dealer, I noticed it over rev'd frequently when speeding up to go on a highway or something.. (8k +) So, I got the valves cleaned, new fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires.. & it's still doing the same thing, except even more so. Now, when I speed up, the car will begin to shake around 35 mph + & the rpms will fly up. I'm almost hopeless. I've been to 3 diff mechanics & no one can find the problem. HELP! :[ I don't want to lose my baby lol.

Sounds like your clutch is slipping. Time to get dirty. How many miles on the car? When the RPMS shoot up are you accelerating or does the car go nowhere?

Over revving?

You had your valves cleaned (wtf?), did a plug and wire job, and replaced a fuel filter for a slipping clutch?

Yea I had WHATEVER it was cleaned, fuel lines or valves or some **** whatever the mechanic did it's something of the sort. You don't have to act like I'm an idiot. & This wasn't all for a 'slipping clutch'. I didn't know it could be that. That's what these air headed mechanics suggested & did for me.

get to know your car, if it didnt sound ridiculous to us, we wouldn't of WTF'd you. from the responses u've already got an opinion. be grateful, we dont charge you for service. I know this seems kinda weird, but getting an opinion from people who have experienced this before DOES IN FACT mean that you owe them respect. The people who helped you can treat you like doggypoo and ur supposed to take it, why? because they helped you for FREE.

There's 99,000 miles on the car. & Yes when I speed up the rpms go up & the car barely accelerates at all. When it does, it shakes.

I know what my car is doing & I give respect to those who show me respect. I posted my problem in order to get opionions from others who might have had the same problem or heard of it. I'm not making EVERYONE post something on this so if you really want to take the time out to criticize my spelling & write rude things then you really have a problem. There's no need & it's really a waste of space.

Now, I'm not all into cars so.. I don't want to sound like an idiot when I ask, you say the clutch is slipping.. I have an automatic.. does that matter?

Also, how would I get this problem fixed.... I don't even know where to begin.

just reading your first post my first question would have been do you have an automatic. and the unfortunate response is YOU ARE FCKED!!

give automatic a search for some good horror stories.

You should get that fixed so it's a manual

might as well since your auto is done for and replacing the prelude auto tranny with another auto tranny is like installing another time bomb in your car.

I've been set on this swap since I bought my car. Problem is the only way to get EVERY part required for the swap is to find a wrecked 5 speed with a good front end. That right there is whats holding me back. Its not so easy to find a Prelude in a junk yard much less around here where everything went under water. Was there ever anyone that put together a swap kit??
