Default new here! timing belt question?

ok i have a 1990 accord automatic! i'm pushing 103k and i was told i should really get my timing belt and water pump replaced! what gives? the guy who told me this is a friend but he was so serious about it. i's changing the timing belt at 103k really that important? the car run's perfect, besides a somewhat rough idle when i shift it into reverse.............. give me feedback thanks guys!

its important but also really expensive. yea it could break one day but you can always save up and do a motor swap when the time comes since that job is almost as much as a used H22 complete engine

You should really get your timing belt, counter balance belt, water pump, cam seal, crank seal, counterbalance seal, and oil pump seal replaced.

Or wait till the belt strips some teeth off in a few thousand miles and pay out over $1000 for a junkyard motor swap

the rough idle in reverse could be a cracked motor mount ...check the front subframe "dogbone" mount at the top of it.
